Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years Book Review

Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years is a book written by Stacy McAnulty and illustrated by David Litchfield.
In our previous post we talked about making rock powder paints and rock crafts, so I thought it would be nice to talk about the big rock we all live on... Earth!
This book is narrated by Earth herself! Earth is super excited to share many scientific kid friendly facts about her life with you and your little one — in a highly entertaining way. You'll learn her many names, her favourite activities, the names of her 7 siblings in the solar system, and Pluto, who's more like the family pet... Earth also goes into key facts about her evolution from Pangea, Ur and Nuna, as well as explaining the time of dinosaurs all the way up to our era! The book ends on a positive note, describing what Earth's hope is for our common future.
If your little one (or you!) want to know more, there are even additional facts to read on the last page of the book. I love that Stacy McAnulty quotes all of her sources, so you know the information you are sharing with your child is accurate.
The illustrations by David Litchfield are wonderful and very engaging. It's a pleasure to discover them page after page. My son asked me so many question while looking at them, and his questions led us to do more research together on mammoths and asteroids.
One thing I particularly appreciated about this book is that it educates us on the impact we, as human being, have on our planet. The engaging illustrations made my son ask me lots of questions about what humans do to the planet when they, "Forget to share and play nice and clean up after themselves...", and what we could do to change that. It ends on a positive note with Earth saying,"Still I bet you humans will turn out to do really great things".
