Snug as a Bug in a Rug, a Family Board Game
Share
Snug as a Bug in a Rug is a fun collaborative family board game that encourages kids' growth. It develops color, size, shape and number recognition. Because of the three levels of difficulty, you can even play with kids of different ages at the same time. Each child simply plays at their level. It can make the game challenging for older kids and easier for the little ones all at once!
The rules are quite simple. First, you twirl a spinner to select a color, a shape and/or a number. Then, you need to find a bug with one to three of those attributes and place her under the rug (i.e. the board). Once we can’t find any more bugs that match, a stink bug enters the rug. At this point, we can only sort the bugs by their eyes size. We win if we can place all the bugs under the rug before the four big stink bugs come out!
My husband, my son and I have lots of fun playing Snug as a Bug in a Rug during our game nights. We bought the game when my son was three years old, and a year and a half later, he still enjoys it a lot. It is a cooperative game where the players all work towards the same goal, getting every last bug under the rug before all the stink bugs make it on to the rug! Because we all win or lose together, it’s a good opportunity to teach our little ones how to handle losing.
Happy Gaming!
