Today’s visit: Imprimerie Valantin!

104 years of history and inspiring encounters!

This morning, I stepped into Imprimerie Valantin, a family-run print shop just a few kilometres away from my studio.
For over a century, this house has been printing, binding and shaping paper, and today it becomes an ally in my search for harmony between aesthetics and ecology.

I went there to work on the packaging for my DIY sewing kits, a project I want to be beautiful, practical and environmentally conscious.
I had the pleasure of meeting Madame Valantin herself (who, I promise, isn’t 103 years old!) and Aude, who welcomed me warmly. Together, we talked about paper, feasibility, technical constraints and ecological impact.
I arrived with a clear idea of the design I wanted to create, but no technical background. I wanted to understand what’s possible, what’s sustainable and what can remain affordable. Aude will help me explore solutions and find the right balance between my creative vision and my financial constraints.

For me, packaging is never just packaging. It’s part of the story behind each object. Every choice ( the paper, the texture, the tone )carries a message and a feeling. And as many of you know, the tactile aspect of my work means a lot to me.

Rethinking the entire chain: from thread to box

Since returning to France and facing the challenge of finding new suppliers for absolutely everything, I’ve been rethinking every material I use.
The goal is to combine beauty, coherence and responsibility, while meeting European standards. Everything is being reconsidered: the fabric, the thread, the paper, the packaging.
I’ll soon share a post about my search for the perfect eco-friendly stuffing material.

Today, I found much more than just a printer or a supplier, and that makes me truly happy. This is only the beginning of the packaging story... to be continued soon!

Thanks for reading and for following me along this journey! Have a lovely day everyone!
